Style Icon: Hayden Panettiere

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere is a ray of sunshine!

She sports outfits that are perfect for the season, with her bright smile and easy breezy ensembles. Allow her to give you ideas on how to build your summer wardrobe.

A short cotton dress with puffed sleeves looks trendy and cute but is very easy to wear. Choose summer-y colors such as green, orange and yellow.

If you're going to the mall and you want to wear shorts, you might get a bit cold with the air conditioning. A light-colored cardigan with breathable fabric paired with denim shorts will keep you nice and comfy. Ditch the heels for flipflops or ballet flats.

One of my ultimate favorite pieces for the summer (and, well, all year round) is the loose top. It's as comfortable as my favorite oversized shirts that I wear at home, but the difference is it looks very sassy! Laid-back chic is hot, hot, hot!

Hayden wears orange well with shoes and accessories that aren't orange, for starters. This summer, wear t-shirt dresses in textured cotton fabrics. You can even wear a dress like Hayden's on a night out. Add heels and a clutch (or Tiramisu's glitter bag!) and you're good to go.

You gotta love her style. Breeze through a sunny summer with pieces that are as cool as Hayden's!

A New Kind of Sexy

Short dresses have been around for a very long time, but it was not until recently that mini dresses with different kinds of sleeves became very popular. I love this new trend and I hope it's here to stay because being covered-up on top while baring some (or in this case, a lot of) legs has always ranked high on my hot list.

Above is Lindsay Lohan in a black striped t-shirt dress. I love the neckline, the sleeves and the length, but I'm not a big fan of the stripes. Keep in mind that horizontal stripes will make you look wider than you actually are. They're good for very slim body types, though.

Rachel Bilson looks adorable in this short-sleeved mini dress. Doesn't it look so easy to wear? It's not advisable to wear boots in the Philippines, though, unless you're going on a night out. So if you want to snag this daytime outfit, you're gonna have to make that one minor adjustment. I'd wear it with ballet flats or flipflops for the summer. Easy breezy, baby.

I love the gold dress that Hayden Panettiere wore at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards! The color complements her skin tone -- it makes her look so radiant. The fit is just right -- very sexy. On somebody else, it might look the opposite of classy but on her... Wow. It's great that some teen stars are beginning to flaunt their curves as opposed to those who starve themselves to be skeleton-skinny. Hayden can be the next big thing. Watch out, Scarlett Johansson!

These mini dresses have also been all over the Spring 2007 runways. Here are a few of my designer favorites:

I instantly fell in love with this white 3.1 Phillip Lim dress. The handmade rosettes add a little spunk to it but still keep it classy. It's a great day-to-night dress.

This piece from DKNY is the perfect casual dress that you can wear to the mall or as a cover-up at the beach.

I would pair this Versace printed mini dress with heels and a wristlet instead to make it perfect for a night out.

Another one from the Spring 2007 3.1 Phillip Lim Collection is this white mini dress with long chiffon sleeves which can be worn on dressier occasions.

I actually got my hands on a few mini dresses already, one of which looks like a black version of the dress Fergie wore in her London Bridge music video (pictured below.) Check out local brands such as Kamiseta, Bayo and Karimadon for gorgeous dresses that will totally fit your budget.

Here I go again about versatility. You can dress up even a cotton jersey dress with heels or dress it down with flipflops, ballet flats or sneakers (depending on the style.) Oh, and don't forget to wear short cycling shorts underneath to avoid accidental undie exposure!
