Jean Replacement

I rarely wear jeans, and by that I mean I put on one of the few pairs I own once or twice a year! Skirts are definitely my staple, and I've been living in skater and swing skirts for the past few months.

Right now, I'm loving these denim ones from Topshop! They're so easy to wear and style as they go with practically everything in my closet. I already have the denim skater skirt but I'm also eyeing the dark denim version and the Moto Black Acid Swing Skirt. Seriously--they're so different!

A Workaholic's Dream: The Home Office

I'm bound to require a home office once I settle into my own place, and while I must consider fitting it into a small area, it has to match my needs. Is it too much to ask for generous desk space and lots of storage?

Though this layout has the office adjacent to the living room, I still think it's a good idea because it maximizes space. I can always listen to instrumental jazz on my earphones or resort to earplugs to block out the sound from the TV!

This layout can also work. It can be incorporated into the bedroom; maybe even inside the walk-through closet I'm lusting after.

This can probably work in the bedroom as well. But if it's going to be right next to the bed, I doubt it'll help my productivity!

I think a separate room, even a small one like this, would still be best if you have space to spare. It'll give the luxury of peace and quiet without any distractions.

The Walk-Through Closet

I first got the idea for a walk-through closet from Ikea.

Ikea's ideas for maximizing small spaces are pure genius. In this video, the part featuring the walk-through closet starts at 2:52.

Here's another idea from Ikea: the use of a curtain behind the bed's headboard to serve as a partition for the dressing area.

This led me to further research on walk-in closet alternatives. While Ikea's curtain partition seems to be much easier to execute, I'm partial to having a wall, which can be the back of one of the closet shelves.

Such would work perfectly for small, narrow bedrooms.

With more space and a horizontal bedroom layout, these pegs can work as well.

Space Pegs: Interiors, Furnishings, Decor and More

I firmly believe in marrying form and function especially when it comes to home decor.

I may not have my own place yet but my space at home is kept tidy (for the most part!) with simple but sleek organizers. I'm not a fan of merely decorative pieces, with the exception of artwork. When I do settle down, I envision an understated, elegant home with classic but lively interiors, lots of storage to minimize clutter, plus a beautiful kitchen and a huge closet that can double as my meditation room (LOL).

I've accumulated quite a number of photographs from all over the web to serve as possible pegs for my future abode. I wanted to share my thoughts on them through my blog, thus the birth of yet another section on The CityLifeStylist.

All of my dream interiors, furnishing preferences and decor desires will be featured in Space Pegs--coming soon!
