Sneak Peek

Alexa Chung looks pretty in breezy, feminine basics paired with Superga sneaks. With its chill vibe and overall look, this video solidly represents the brand while reaching out to the fashion set.

Superga is known for its comfortable, timeless, high-quality shoes, and I like how the vid shows different looks that give the classic kicks a boost of chic.

For those in Manila, find out where you can get a pair here.

Frost Yourselves!

My cousin and I dropped by Frostings at TriNoma one weekend to satisfy our cupcake craving.

The Cashew Sansrival cupcake looked too pretty to eat! I was finally able to take a bite after a few snapshots, and it most definitely hit the spot with its nutty, buttery combination.

The Dulce de Leche cupcake was also a delight! The silky custard over the chiffon was just right--smooth and not too sweet.

I was a little disappointed in the limited choices, though, because I was looking forward to trying the Belgian Chocolate and the Trifle, which has almonds and Amaretto. I'm gonna be back for those next time!

Caught in a Strap

How cool are these? One multi-strap watch is enough to get you fully accessorized! Well, almost. Just add earrings plus a ring or two and you're done.

I wonder where I can get something like these in Manila.

Poynt of Attraction

I love scouring the net for great deals on food, shopping and leisure, but they're not always easy to come by. I only get sale and promo alerts from some of my favorite shops through email, Twitter, and Facebook once in a while. That's why when a friend told me about CityPoynt, I didn't think twice about signing up.

The website regularly updates its members about exclusive deals and discounts (up to 75%!) on dining, leisure and shopping in various top establishments. What's even sweeter is the fact that registration is free!

CityPoynt will be officially launched on March 24, but you can already sign up here using the referral code 2ea6d7622a5a3550eaac8a1c3cdc6918. If you're one of CityPoynt's first 10,000 members like moi, you'll immediately receive 1,000 CP Poynts!

Who doesn't love a good bargain?

Troian Bellisario and Lucy Hale sport pretty little feather earrings on and off screen. It's amazing how a pair can instantly add a sexy flair to any outfit.

Sheer Genius

Emmanuelle Alt's first Vogue Paris cover features Gisele Bundchen in a feminine yet fiercely see-through Dolce & Gabbana ensemble.

I feel like it's been ages since sheers made their way back to the runway but it hasn't been until recently that my closet caught on with the trend. It was probably because they reminded me of my high school wardrobe--chiffon ponchos and button-downs over tube tops, mesh hoodies, and sheer peasant tops over camis, worn with flared jeans or long skirts!

This time, though, the look is a mix of sheers and the "innerwear as outerwear" trend. After stepping out of my neutral comfort zone and embracing color last year, I'm starting to get more adventurous with my fashion choices for 2011.

Ah, life's little thrills. It really is fun being a girl.

Praying for Japan

My prayers go out to Japan.

I admire the country's courage in the midst of tragedy. I've read reports such as Nicholas Kristof's in the New York Times about the "uncomplaining, collective resilience" of the Japanese, and professor William Tsutsui's in his Southern Methodist University blog about their patience and discipline. Tsutsui observed that despite the dense crowds in the streets, clogged roads and the spread of images of the tsunami, the people remained composed, polite and organized.

I guess we can learn a thing or two from them. Instead of dwelling on the tragic events, I believe we should focus our positive energies towards Japan and the rest of the world.

Bring on the Liquor

My love affair with liquor-based desserts began with fruitcake. While other people cringe at the sight of it under the Christmas tree, my Dad and I get a thrill out of receiving that little brandy/rum-soaked brown loaf with fruits and nuts!

With Christmas still months away, I've recently been sampling other sweet and liquor-laced treats to satisfy my taste buds. Here are a few of what really pleased the palate in the absence of our old favorite.

Apple and Calvados Crepe
Cuillere, Serendra, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig
If a plain crepe a la mode already makes me happy, just imagine what this can do to me. Cuillere's Apple and Calvados Crepe is filled with stewed apples, toffee syrup and whipped cream, topped with French Vanilla ice cream, and flambéed with Calvados (dry apple brandy). The brandy cutting the sweetness of the fruit and the syrup plus the traditional warm and cold contrast of the ice cream and the filling made for a brilliant combination of flavors and sensations.

Bailey's Chocolate Cake
Chocolat, Xavierville Avenue, Quezon City
This simple chocolate cake soaked in Bailey's liquor is incredibly smooth, moist and not overly sweet. It's definitely a worthy runner-up to their Death by Tablea cake!

Fruitcake still tops my list, though. So next Christmas, remember that I'd be willing to give your unwanted fruitcakes a good home!

Chanel Gets a Lively Boost

With Blake Lively of Gossip Girl fame as the new face of Chanel, it looks like the brand has been injected with a delightfully fresh, girl-next-door vibe without overshadowing that classic Chanel sophistication.

I love how the Spring 2011 Chanel Mademoiselle handbag campaign photos show off the muse and the bags that both exude elegance with a youthful spin.

All That Glitter

Since college, I've only worn clear polish on my fingernails because I liked keeping them nice, clean and fuss-free--until now. I think it was all the glitter on Jennifer Lopez and the American Idol hopefuls that triggered the turnaround. What I've recently been lacking in party hours I make up for with my glitzy glam manicure.

Now I'm using Milani's Disco Lights nail lacquer, which I got from my best friend last year. I can't believe I just discovered its shimmery splendor.

For my next manis, I've got my eye on Etude House's Petit Darling and Dear Darling nail polish lines.

Every girl can use some extra sparkle!
