One Piece Wonders, One Hit Wonders

Rompers, playsuits, jumpsuits--whatever you want to call them--are cute and comfortable indeed. But don't let these one piece wonders fool you. Today I realized they can also be a major hassle. I found out when I went to the loo.

They're still great for quick trips, though, like supermarket stopovers. Hee.

Caffeine Alternative

Adam Levine is probably the only tattooed, small tee- and skinny jeans-clad fella I can ever swoon over. When coffee fails, a Maroon 5 video can perk me back up for late nights with the books.

Now back to regular programming!

Black Beauties

My friends and I have not only been raiding men's closets but their accessory bins as well, sporting our dads' (and even granddads'!) big, bold timepieces. That's why when I spotted these dark and even more versatile versions of our current obsessions, they easily made it to the top of my lust list.

Greece Lightning

I've been either too busy or too lazy to chronicle my meals, hence the lack of The CityLifeStylist Eats updates. Good thing I managed to take a few shots during my recent trip to Cyma at TriNoma.

This was not my first time at the Greek resto, but I'm only reviewing it now because this time I actually remembered to take photos before attacking the plates! I was dining with a friend, and we started with pita bread and Melitzanosalata, a mix of roasted eggplant, tomatoes, garlic, lemon and extra virgin olive oil. It tasted fresh and tangy, but you have to eat the bread right away 'cause it gets tough and tastes like cardboard when it cools.

We also shared the Watermelon and Lamb Salad, which had black olives, sunflower seeds, fresh mint and Feta cheese (served on the side because of my allergies.) I usually play it safe with chicken or beef because I get a little queasy at the thought of lamb, but I really enjoyed this. The combination of grilled lamb, watermelon and the minty summer herb vinaigrette was surprisingly refreshing.

We were already quite full because the servings were too big for us, but we just had to try the molten chocolate cake, Skolatina, served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. It's crispy on the outside with gooey chocolate in the middle that made it a little too sweet. The crispy part combined with some caramel and ice cream, though, is heavenly.

For the Wing

Anything Jeremy Scott touches turns into something outrageously awesome, and this is evident in the Jeremy Scott for Adidas Originals by Originals Fall/Winter 2010 collection.

Talk about fly sportswear!

Hearts and Dolls

I prefer simple, classic jewelry for everyday use, but it's so much fun to play with funky accessories from time to time. Today I found the perfect partner for my little voodoo doll ring--a chunky black heart. At first I thought the combination was a bit too gothic for my style, then I realized the rings actually go well with my largely black wardrobe, and reflect my childhood love for hearts and dolls (although I played with Barbies, not voodoo!)

It's not very easy to spot cute rings in Manila, but stores like Regina Gift Shop at the Greenhills Shopping Center, Accessory Lab at the Powerplant Mall, and the newly opened Forever21 at SM Megamall usually carry good selections.

Minkoff for Men

Rebecca Minkoff gave a little preview of her new line, Ben Minkoff, which introduces man bags that look stylishly sturdy and highly functional. These are sure to make my male friends' mouths water, and maybe even my girlfriends'. I'm actually digging these Ben bags more than Minkoff's purses and totes for the ladies!

Chic Noir

Anja Rubik shows how attitude and a lot of eyeliner play a big part in achieving that dark chic look. She looks smashing against an understated background in the Fendi Fall 2010 campaign, where Karl Lagerfeld had his muse looking like a Hitchcock blonde with an uptown girl's wardrobe.

Très, très chic, indeed.

Big on Beads

One-of-a-kind statement pieces made of beautiful beads--these are what jewelry designer Crystalyn Yason is known for.

Inspired by nature, her travels, and her precious handpicked materials, Yason's works are striking yet elegant. What instantly caught my eye were her bib necklaces, which can transform a simple black shift into a standout dress, or even glam up a basic tee.

Browse through her collections on the Cryst Jewelries website.

Technicolor Tripping

The Jil Sander Spring 2011 collection's got neon brights hitting all the right places--well, almost. Not digging colored pants and short shorts on men, but the bold hues definitely look fresh!

Me and Mini-Me in Minis

Who: My little sister Maia and I watched Eclipse with the family (for the second time!) over the weekend.
The Look: We kept it casual and colorful, debuting some of the skirts we snapped up at the newly opened Forever21 at Megamall. The opening was so much fun despite the incredibly long lines outside, at the fitting rooms and at the cashier!

Maia's style is on the sporty side, and this is actually one of the first few times she wore a skirt! I love how she gave an athletic twist to the floral mini with a purple knitted hoodie and red Keds that match her glasses.

I started injecting more color into my predominantly black wardrobe lately, and I'm currently obsessed with corals and blues, thus the cerulean cardigan and coral mini. Wore a navy tee, a brown belt and nude ballet flats to tone down the brightness.

My sister is actually turning 14 this month. Happy Birthday, baby! She'll probably grow taller than me soon and I'm going to be the one people will be calling Maia's mini-me!

P.S. Big thanks to for presenting their Style Award to The CityLifeStylist! I look forward to becoming a guest blogger on the Be in Style blog. :)
