Heavy Petal

This month we've seen florals sprouting in some Resort 2010 collections including those of Vera Wang (above, left) and Jason Wu (above, right).

This season's blooms have a bit of a gloomy feel to them, which adds a dark, mysterious twist to the usual sweet and girly look. Wang added a bit of rock and roll in this ensemble with a black bracelet and leather peep-toe booties, while Wu kept his dusky florals ladylike with a skirt, a boater's hat and two-toned pumps.

Take the cue from Wang and toughen up a floral shift dress with a black leather studded belt, black booties and minimal accessories like a pair of stud earrings.

Do a Wu with a dark floral skirt that can dress up your basic black tops. Tuck in a tank, slip into a pair of black patent pumps and wear simple jewelry. Throw on a cropped cardigan in another dark hue and you can take this outfit to work.

Try some blooming buds on your duds with these ideas!
