Old Fashion Love

I can’t say I miss writing because that’s one of the main reasons why I wasn’t able to blog for the past few months. From academic requirements to magazine articles, ad copy and television scripts, I pretty much had my hands full with lots and lots of fun writing projects!

Oh, but how I missed The CityLifeStylist. :)

There’s nothing like the first day of the love month to revisit an old love.

Picking up from the little pun in my entry title, I’m going to indulge in what I’m pretty sure is one of your current obsessions, as well—the divine wardrobe of the cast of Gossip Girl.

It hasn’t even officially entered local cable TV just yet, but the power of the Internet and relatives abroad have already brought us Blair, Serena, Nate, Dan, Chuck and Jenny who have stepped right out of Cecily von Ziegesar’s books and onto the small screen.

Some may call it old-fashioned and conservative, but Blair’s style is definitely my favorite. I didn’t even have to buy a new wardrobe to follow suit; Blair Waldorf has affirmed my love for all things ladylike—headbands, dresses, headbands, cardigans, and more headbands! She wears a lot of classic pieces that won’t go out of style, though most would be perfect for cooler climates.

Still, we can always balance tops, layered with chic cardigans and cropped jackets, with short skirts. If there’s a will, there’s a way—even in tropical Philippines!

Of course, you wouldn’t want to be caught fanning yourself in the heat clad in a long-sleeved oxford shirt, a cardigan and a tweed skirt. These outfits call for perfect timing and a perfect venue.

If you can’t wait for that perfect event to come along, you can always invite your girlfriends to hang out at a mall with freezing air conditioning!

So if you’re interested in stocking up for cooler weather or those days at the mall, scour the racks of Topshop, Zara, Mango and Debenhams for great finds and sure keepers. Hey, you might still be able to catch the Ayala Malls Welcome 2008 Sale -- it's until February 3rd!

Have a great February!
