I fell in love with and even featured a couple of the pieces from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2007 collection last April, and when I found out that his Fall 2007 collection was already out, I immediately checked out Style.com to see what Mr. Lim came up with this season.
From his previous collection dominated by the purity of white, relaxed silhouettes and beautiful rosettes, Phillip opted to shift to the dark side with lots of black, layered clothing and splashes of red. Following are some of my picks:
This all-black ensemble has a laid-back silhouette but still looks tailored and elegant. Black stockings have become a big hit on the runway and with Hollywood celebrities, but I'm not quite sure about those making their way to local fashion -- it's way too hot in the Philippines!
Phillip still keeps it loose and easy here, layering a long black top over a long-sleeved turtleneck and pairing it with shorts. The fabrics he used look so luxurious. It's an outfit that only a few can pull off, but it has that sexy, laid-back appeal that I love. The layered tops would be too much for the weather here, though. Perhaps tops with shorter sleeves and thinner fabrics can work for us.
When will we ever get tired of metallics? I guess they're just too good to lose just yet. This gold and black mini dress is fun, sophistication and spunk all rolled into one.
Phillip injected a little bit of red into his collection. This tube dress is very sexy in all its simplicity. The ribbon detail subtly adds a girly touch.
Light or dark, I love how Phillip Lim's pieces always exude that feminine sophistication and ease. He is truly one of my favorite designers.
