MAC Can Doll You Up

MAC Cosmetics has tied up with Mattel to create the Barbie Loves MAC makeup line. Above is their ad campaign featuring models looking like real-life Barbies. Does this mean that they're beginning to cater to a younger market? I don't think so. But I bet little girls are going to be even more excited about wearing makeup. I hope moms out there will make them wait until they're old enough and give them the MAC Barbie doll to play with for the meantime.

When I first saw the ad in the April 2007 issue of Marie Claire Philippines, I was so impressed at how Barbie-like the models looked with the new makeup line. But hey, it also helped that they already had those high cheekbones, sculpted noses and lush lips.

I was also quite disappointed when I checked out the website. It seems that MAC just renamed some of their old shades of lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, etc. and repackaged them for the Barbie Loves MAC line. Well, that's business for you.

Personally, though, I think I'm going to check out the lipstick in Style It Up (a light muted pink with subtle gold pearl frost) and the creamstick liner in Honey B (a light neutral beige.) Believe it or not, I have never tried MAC and now I'm raring to check it out! I guess their new ad campaign just got me! Hey, who can blame me? I've loved Barbie since I was three.

Check out the MAC website for more information about the new Barbie Loves MAC line.
