The Lippie Review: Lip Gloss

I loved doing research for this entry because I am a big lip gloss/lipstick/lip balm junkie! In this article, I'm going to focus on some brands of lip gloss that I put to the test.

Supposedly, the DuWop Lip Venom lip gloss should "enhance the natural color of your lips" because it "increases circulation to the area." I put some on and at first, it looked really good. My lips became a little bit more pinkish and, well, glossy. Perhaps it was just the lighting at Beauty Bar, though, because my lips looked funny after we left the store. My friends said I looked like I just ate lechon, (referring to a Filipino delicacy -- VERY OILY roasted pig,) which is not exactly flattering. I thought that maybe I should've applied less. So, I dabbed off a little bit from my bottom lip. After having coffee and popcorn, the lip gloss didn't come off. It is long-lasting. I think it's also a plus that you don't need to put on so much because it's quite expensive at 995Php (US$20.) It can be addictive, though, because even if it's a little bit sticky, it's tingly and cool on the lips.

The Verdict: The DuWop Lip Venom scores a 7 out of 10 for me. I loved how it felt on my lips, but the price is just too high for clear lip gloss. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it yet.

Philosophy Kiss Me will definitely make you pucker up! LOL. Actually, Philosophy classifies Kiss Me as a LIP BALM, but I believe it looks more like lip gloss. I wonder what their Supernatural Lip Gloss would look like! Perhaps those would give us lechon lips. Anyway, I already own a tube of Kiss Me and it's one of my favorites. You need to apply it with your little finger since it doesn't have a brush, but it's not too sticky anyway. The shine lasts for a long time, (but not as long as DuWop.) If you shop online at Philosophy, it's about $10 (about 480Php) a tube. I forgot to check the price at Beauty Bar since I already have it, but from what I recall, I bought it for about 600Php (US$13).

The Verdict: Philosophy Kiss Me is an 8 out of 10. I like it a lot. It's definitely worth a try.

Bloom offers a great color selection for lip gloss. One thing that I like about Bloom cosmetics is that they either smell good or taste good -- but either way, they always LOOK GOOD! Their lip glosses have mandarin and vanilla oil, which make them yummy. There are very light shades that can be worn over lipstick or alone for a natural look. There are also some with heavier tints that can also be used alone. This is my favorite among the three because it gives just the right shine and color. Plus, it also lasts a long time so I don't have to keep applying it. Application isn't messy, too, since it comes with a wand! It's not so expensive, either. You can get a tube for less than 500Php (US$10) at Beauty Bar.

The Verdict: Bloom scores a perfect 10 for me! I hope they'll send me free goodies for this entry. Hahaha. I love Bloom.

Everybody has different tastes, so I'm not sure if you're going to like the products I "road-tested." I hope this will be helpful, though. Try them and see for yourself. Enjoy!

(These may not be all of the store branches; I'm only listing the ones that I know of.)
